Most of us enjoy a good ham sandwich at lunch or for an easy dinner. Cheese is always a natural for a ham sandwich. Cold sandwiches are always good, but I especially love hot sandwiches and I'm sharing one that can be versatile: "Swedish Rolls". This is a recipe that's been around for years and it's known by other names, as well. This is a hot ham and cheese treat that can be made ham joint for 12 a main dish sandwich, served with a bowl of hot soup. They would also go well with a salad, especially a fruit salad. This would also make a wonderful weekend brunch if you serve this with a bowl of fruit and some hot coffee and juice. It's a very versatile recipe, as you can tell!
Fried eggs and ham. My husband looks forward to this leftover meal every time I make a ham! I don't think anyone needs instructions on this, but I wanted to put it out there as a suggestion. Fried eggs (or scrambled eggs) and gammon in slow cooker can be served for dinner, as well as for breakfast. You may want to include some fresh fruit or a fruit cup to round out the meal.
Cook or steam some broccoli, add melted cheddar cheese and some diced ham. This very interesting and creative dish will help you quickly dispose of your leftover Christmas cooking ham. It is healthy, yummy and very non Christmas. Wonderful!
When Christmas rolls around, cookies are everywhere. Do yourself a favor and limit yourself, or at least find a recipe that cuts back on sugar. Sugar replacements are ideal when baking desserts because pure sugar is the hardest thing for your body to breakdown. When your body is working overtime to breakdown sugar molecules, you are ready for the Christmas ham and your body is not. Think of it as a traffic jam. Sugar is causing a major back up in your body's digestive system but 5 o'clock traffic is still trying to get home. If this simile doesn't help you avoid sweets all together, at least bake a batch of cookies with a sugar substitute.
Most Thanksgiving dinner tables are packed with once a year favorites. One way to spend less is to cook less. If you are hosting the family get together, make it a pot luck. You provide the main star, the turkey or christmas ham, 3 side dishes and one dessert. Have the other members of your family to RSVP what they will be bringing. We have done this for years on my fathers side of the family. We look forward to the fried Turkey my uncle brings. We fight over who gets the last of the chicken and dumplings. The kids make themselves sick with too much of my cousins banana pudding. With everyone chipping in, the cost is not too much for anyone. It turns the meal into a real celebration, one person is not stuck in the kitchen all day cooking.
Other dishes that can be created are hot vegetable sauces, such as spinach or artichoke dips. To the base, a cheese such as parmesan is added, along with chopped spinach and or artichokes. Salt and pepper are a given, but many people like to add a little kick to their sauce. To this end, they'll add some Tabasco into the mixture. This can be served over fish, or some people like to lap it up with slices of French loaf bread, or with hearty and sturdy crackers.
I would recommend buying a scooter or moped to anyone who wants to save themselves time, money or just give them extra freedom without damaging the environment. Look into it for yourself and you will see all the benefits that I have. Whether you are a teenager, a young professional or anyone who wants to have a hobby at weekends, scooters and mopeds are perfect for you. Get one and see for yourself.
